Le 11 décembre nous sommes allés à Calais avec la voiture pleine des donations, de vêtements et couvertures chauds pour les sans abris. Nous les avons livrés à la merveilleuse organisation "L'Auberge des Migrants" où Il y avait une activité intense dans le dépôt car il neigeait. Un bénévole, Luke qui venait de l'Angleterre, nous a expliqué l'organisation. Cinq groupes travaillent ensemble et partagent ce grand entrepôt. Vêtements, couvertures et repas sont distribués à cinq points dans la ville chaque jour. Les bénévoles de la cuisine communautaire, toute neuve en inox, préparent et distribuent 2700 repas pas jour. En ce moment il y a entre 600 et 1000 personnes qui dorment dehors dans la ville.
.All our donations delivered today to the big warehouse of the wonderful Auberge des Migrants in Calais. Activity was particularly intense as it has been snowing in the night, hand and feet warmers were being sorted rapidly and our blankets were destined to be given out straight away this evening. We were met, and the organisation very kindly explained, by Luke a volunteer from Birmingham. I was very impressed with this set up which shelters donations and activities for five groups of volunteers which work together. Food is prepared in a large kitchen and huge bins of spices showed the meals would be greatly appreciated! Distribution of meals and donations takes place at five different distribution points in the town and all working together they manage to help well over 600 people every day, Including 2700 meals par jour!
