Hier, notre voiture semblait plus pleine que jamais (si possible) lorsque nous sommes arrivés à Calais où nous avons confié tous les dons de notre association aux bénévoles de la merveilleuse organisation Care4Calais. Nous avons été très heureux de rencontrer Clare la fondatrice et Amy qui s'occupait de la réception et de la distribution ultérieure de nos dons.
Malheureusement, nous n'avons pas eu le temps de rester et d'aider à la distribution dans l'après-midi, mais nous avons regardé autour de la ville et nous étions très tristes de voir comment elle avait été transformée: des murs et des hautes clôtures montés partout et ne pa seulement pour empêcher les réfugiés et autres migrants de s'approcher du port. Des kilomètres de nouvelles clôtures très hautes étaient en train d’être montés autour de leurs pitoyables camps. Quel minable choix de société de dépenser ces centaines de milliers d’euros de cette façon.
Our car seemed fuller than ever yesterday, (if possible) when we drove up to Calais and dropped off all the donations, this time at the wonderful organisation Care4Calais. We were very happy to meet Clare the founder, and Amy who was managing the reception and subsequent distribution of our donations.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay and help with the distribution in the afternoon, but we looked around the town and were very sad to see how it has been transformed: walls and high fences have gone up everywhere. Fencing not only to prevent the refugees and other migrants from approaching the port, but kilometres of new high fencing was even going up as we watched around their pitiful encampments. So sad and so futile.
